When it comes to finding a dress that’s both church and cocktail appropriate few check the box than a lace shift dress. In my last shopping escapade, I came across this yellow Topshop lace dress and was excited, for what dress I don’t quite know, but I knew this dress would serve a purpose. There is something femme-fatale about the dress that drew me to it, like “I don’t have enough cocktail dresses so this will do.” There was also something lady-like “I can wear that to church” that also clicked. Honestly, I can validate all the reasons one needs a neon yellow lace dress, but it wouldn’t mean a thing if it didn’t set a spark at first sight. That spark is exactly what this Topshop number did to me at first sight.
I have a trip planned to the Midwest and decided I need to par down on my eccentricities, so this dress met the parred-down requirement, a dress not so over the top. The best part was also wearing it solo to happy hour with a friend. I accent outfits with denim shirts because I still think that’s cool, can you tell I was feeling particularly cool on this day, no? No need to be showstopping in the middle of the day, I paired the sleeveless dress with a distressed denim shirt to make it a more casual day look. Never one to shy away from color, I was surprised from all the glances I received from strangers, maybe it was a little too yellow? I didn’t think so.
Wishing you a lovely weekend loves!
