A denim skirt is an essential I stayed away from for years, especially pencil skirts, simply because my body type doesn’t do well with pencil skirts. On a recent trip to Seven for All Mankind Jeans store, I picked up a few denim pieces and when the sales associate suggested this retro-inspired denim skirt with the braid details. I said it was pretty but not for me. I explained that I have curvy hips and pencil skirts always ride up on me, pushing the waist up well past my waist resulting in a pencil skirt looking like a mini. He laughed and said “You know whose stylist just picked this skirt up?” I didn’t have a clue that’s when he said “Béyonce!” If Queen Bey could fit her bootylicious body into this denim pencil skirt, why couldn’t I? Oh, that was one good sales associate right?

So far I like the fit, and since it fits well on my waist, the ride-ups have been greatly minimized. It’s a somewhat easy piece to style because you can wear it from season to season and pair it with most kind of tops and shoes. I can’t believe I added a denim skirt to my ‘easy-dressing’ collection. I got a chance to get my makeup done by Ashley Brignolle, who is super talented (notice I dared to show face without sunglasses?), yeah she’s that good.

Hope you are having a great week!

xoxo,
