It’s no secret that culottes are having a moment right now. With spring peeking its head around the corner, I thought it was high time we talked about how to wear these ankle baring pants. We see plenty of leggy bloggers on Pinterest wearing culottes. I Repin, then sigh longingly wishing that I could pull off the look as effortlessly as they do.

In my moment of despair, I came up with the idea of offering readers practical tips on how to wear the latest trends and incorporate them into their daily lives. So if you’ve been dying to learn how to wear culottes but were unsure of how to wear them, read on to see how you can wear one pair of culottes styled in three different ways.

Look 1: The Minimalist

In this look, Liz paired a fitted black Wolford bodysuit with her black ASOS culottes. As soon as I saw these pieces paired together, it reminded me of Audrey Hepburn’s chic minimalist style. Pairing a fitted top with culottes will help to balance out the volume of the wide leg hem on the bottom. To add a bit of color to this all black ensemble, Liz grabbed her Louis Vuitton Mask bag and slid on a pair of black ankle boots with gold studs from Laurence Dacade. Don’t be afraid to play with color as you’re rocking culottes.

Look 2: Neutrals

This is definitely one of my favorite looks Liz has done, mainly because I’m partial to fedoras and long vests. If you want to channel your inner Parisian, this is the look to try. Liz wore a Max Mara camel sweater (similar here) with wide sleeves and a funnel neck under a long camel vest (similar here). When looking for a sweater to pair with culottes, remember to seek out a sweater with relaxed fit and a high neckline. I find that they are much more flattering with culottes.

Look 3: Transitional

As we leave the memories of frigid temperatures of winter in the past and look forward to the long awaited spring, we are faced with the challenge of finding outfits that transition well in these awkward in between seasons. This outfit is the perfect example of utilizing clothing that transitions well into spring. Note how Liz keeps the look casual and relaxed by keeping the hem of her Celine sweater untucked. The calf length Saint Laurent boots pair well with culottes because they keep your legs warm during those chilly spring mornings while not overheating you as the day goes on. Who says style and practicality can’t co-exist?
