We all know the old adage, history repeats itself. Fashion is no exception. If you’ve been browsing around on Instagram or any style blogs, you’ve probably noticed a few trends that make us nostalgic of the 90s. I’m totally here for it! I’m a 90s baby, so I can definitely hop on board for a few of these trends. Read on to see the latest 90s inspired trends.

1. Jean Skirts

This trend makes me a bit nostalgic of middle school. The denim skirt is making a comeback in a major way. Every blogger has a jean skirt these days and they’ve never looked more chic.

2. Ripped boyfriend jeans

The oversized jeans of yesteryear are having a moment right now. I’m all for this trend because aside from making you look 10 times more badass, the relaxed fit is just oh so forgiving. So go ahead and have that cupcake you’ve been craving!

3. Chokers

The chokers of the 90s were weird plastic elastic strands that looked more like a torture device than a necklace. These days, chokers are much more sophisticated looking. Check out this gold one Rihanna is rocking.

4. Jelly sandals

I’ll be honest, I’m not crazy about this trend. It’s a bit too young for me liking. I remember wearing jelly sandals as a toddler and even then I wasn’t loving it. But certified it girl, Kylie Jenner was spotted wearing a pair of jellies. So if you’re into it, go ahead and channel your inner 90s kid.

5. Thick platforms

Chunky Platforms I’m here for thick platforms because at my measly 5’4″ stature I need all the help I can get. Long live the platform.

6. Scrunchies

I saw Selena Gomez wearing a scrunchie, so I bought a scrunchie. Seriously though, I’m so glad these are a thing again.

7. Denim Jackets

The 90s were all about denim and denim jackets were considered an absolute closet staple. Unfortunately the denim jacket fell out of favor for a while, for me at least. Now they’re back with a vengeance. Pair your denim jacket with a pair of dark wash jeans for a cool Canadian tuxedo look.

8. Off the shoulder shirts

This is another one of those trends that’s reached epidemic status. Just scroll down your Instagram timeline and you’re bound to see someone rocking this shoulder baring trend.

9. Flannel shirt

In my world, flannel shirts never went out of style. But there’s no denying they’ve been gaining popularity lately. Tie a flannel shirt around your waist to give your look a dash of 90s grunge.

10. Mini Backpacks

In the 90s everyone who was anyone had a mini backpack. These days it’s not so different. If you haven’t got one yet, what are you waiting for? Mini backpacks are super cute and quite useful too.
