Prior to attending The Blonds ss16 fashion show our expectations were sky-high, and we were not disappointed. Designers, David and Phillipe Blond, promised us “all gold everything” in an “Egyptian disco flavor” and boy did they deliver. Phillipe Blond opened the show decked in a head to toe glittering bodysuit, gold shoes, and accessories. Over-the-top, magical drama ensued with model after model following the next wearing pom-pom like blonde pigtails, an assortment of gold embellishment, nails and gold-foil as makeup. The designers attributed the inspiration for the collection to Egyptology. They were inspired by how wealthy ancient Egyptians took their wealth with them to the afterlife.

The outfits varied in lengths, but they were all either minis or skintight. The palette was mostly shiny gold, blue jewel tones and some black. The pieces were adorned with gold embellishments, yellow fringe beads, different color stones, gold sequins giving the pieces a 3-D effect, think glam-drag-chic.  Mini dresses made of shiny snakeskin and jumpsuits made of black sheer and gold fabric all leaving the guests dazzled. The opulence at the show is what makes their show so highly-anticipated. The designers also happen to be favorites of stars such as Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, and Britney Spears.

The Blonds ss16 show was as entertaining as one could have hoped. The designers know how to push the envelope with their creations while giving a high-energy SHOW. It felt like a celebration of freedom to dress as extravagantly and daring as you wish.
