Where can you find me eating and blogging at the same time? Obviously at Cafe Gitane in the Jane Hotel. Year after year, this place continues to be a favorite spot for consistently great food and service, plus they let me sit there and use their Wifi.
The menu is a nice mix of French and Moroccan cuisines. I religiously get the same thing every time, the Moroccan couscous, which is couscous mixed in with red peppers, potatoes, raisins, toasted pine nuts, hummus and eggplant. It comes in a nice huge heap, waiting to be devoured. I order it with merguez sausages, but you can also order it with chicken. They have a second location in NoLita; both cafes are small, cozy and always buzzing so get there early to get a table for brunch or lunch.
