The reason I don’t like to wear foundation is my skin always breaks out like crazy a few days later, and that’s after careful makeup removal, cleanses and a Clarisonic exfoliation. Sensitive, breakup-prone skin has plagued me since I can remember, so I all and gave up on heavy liquid foundation or even powder (yes this includes the mineral kind). The most I use when I want to look somewhat made up is tinted moisturizer, which I have been using quite a bit of as of late and in turn my face expectedly flared up. Luckily I have been able to combat the flare-ups using an arsenal of salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide products, but the flare-ups left some dark spots. Hence, the hunt for a product to fix the spots began (it’s an uphill battle my friends) and I came across Kiehl’s Skin Brightening Exfoliator from their Clearly Corrective collection. Before, every time I saw ‘brightening’ on a product I always steered clear, because I always associated it with skin bleaching products. I did some research on the product’s ingredients including the two main ones, white birch and peony and once I was satisfied that I wasn’t going to change skin colors, I took the leap. I have now been using the product for five weeks, twice weekly and I have already noticed great improvement, the dark spots are almost completely gone.
It feels like I just finished doing the blog equivalent of an informercial and while that is not the case, I do like sharing when I find “miracle” products that work for me, just incase someone else is going through the same skin predicaments. For now, I am going bare face to give my skin a break from the tinted moisturizer, but I think I need to start searching for a new one, perhaps an oil-free one. Any recommendations?
