Congratulations to the lovely couple!

On to the more important details such as the wedding dress. Kate Middleton has always picked safe conservative clothes and picking a wedding dress that makes a splash could throw her into the style icon radar.  The blue Issa dress she wore when she and Prince William announced their engagement was the right start for her being a style icon princess. Sure, in the past I’ve complimented her on her smile, boyfriend or achievements, but never really on her style. Kate dresses for comfort in cute wrap dresses and subtle accessories, which is perfectly fine.

She picked a blue dress, same color Princess Diana wore on her engagement, coincidence? Maybe, but emulating the late Princess would be a clever move on her part.

The big question in the fashion world is who will dress her for the glorious day? There have been speculations and different chimes on different designer who would be suited to dress the future princess bride.

In that case I want to vote for Georgina Chapman. Her Marchesa gowns are exquisite and suited for the modern day princess.

Here are my two favorite options from Marchesa spring 2011.

Is changing her name from Kate back to Catherine a first step into the molding a fashionable princess??
